i am trying to find basic train schedules from paris to outlaying towns. In particular Melun. I have tried navigating the "www.tgv-europe.com" site with no luck. I dont want to buy on-line. i just want to see schedules. I figured i could just walk up and buy a ticket on the day of travel from paris to towns like this.

can someone please direct me to the appropriate website to find this info?

don't really need exact schedules for planning - trains leave about every 30 minutes - bit less on weekends. Just buy your ticket at the station.

Melun is just a suburb. All you need to look at is the Transilien site.

I go to Melun from Paris quite frequently. The best option for this route is to buy a one day Mobilis pass for zones 1-5. This pass costs 15.20€ and will cover all your public transport needs (RER, métro and buses) in zones 1-5 for the entire day. It is cheaper than the round trip ticket from Paris to Melun and back.
