train reservations in Italy-purchase in USA?

We will be travelling the route from Venice to Florence to Rome. I had not planned on purchasing our tickets until we arrived in Venice. We will not be travelling during the weekend. Will I have any problems getting tickets over there? Thanks

I would say you will not have trouble. Buy 4-24 hours before you plan to travel to give yourself additional peace of mind.

Best wishes,

Rex

I usually buy my tickets for these cities the day before and had no problems getting any. Plus they have several trips to these main cities in a day so you can always take the next train if u missed one. Would be helpful to check out Trenitalia timetable for reference.

Would buying after you arrive Italy apply for the busy season (summer), as well?

I plan to buy a one way ticket on Eurostar from Florence to Venice upon my arrival in Florence, and plan to travel four days later. I've been told to wait until I get there to purchase, but am starting to get a little nervous that I may not be able to get seats on the particular train I want.

Any insight? I have a prepaid apartment in Venice and really don't want to be late.

Relax--a day in advance will suffice.

Thanks, Bob. I knew I could count on either you, Rex, or Alice to chill me out.
