Train or bus from Nice to Cannes?

Which mode of transportation is most convenient from the Nice airport? My hotel in Cannes is one block from the train station.

My flight arrives into Nice at 7:00 p.m. Thanks for your help!

I just checked the SNCF (French railway) site, and the train run from Nice to Cannes is a little over half an hour; so that would be the best way to go. Trains run at different times at different months of the year; so you would need to keep checking as your departure date gets closer. Keep an eye out for the times of the last trains in case your flight should be delayed--and luggage always takes a while unless you're traveling very light. Here's the web site:

You can't buy tickets more than 3 months in advance; so what you need to do is put in a false date to check the timetable.

I don't recall trains stopping at the Nice Airport, but I could be wrong. You'd either need to take a taxi or the express bus from the Nice airport into town to the train station (about $5 per person for the bus, about $25 for the taxi) and it runs every 20 minutes. On the other hand, it really might be simpler to take the bus right from the airport to Cannes. There is a regular bus that takes about an hour (you'll spend that much time with the bus into the town of Nice and waiting for your connections, anyway). There may or may not still be an express bus that takes just an hour from the Nice airport to Cannes via the motorway.

Patarick,

You are of course right--no train stop at the Nice airport. Thanks for the correction.

I agree with Patrick, the bus is right there at the airport. It is very convenient. And it is not like a "local" bus, more like a touring type bus.

The bus sounds like the way to go. Do you know where in Cannes the bus will drop off?

Last time I was there I had a rental car, so I'm unfamiliar with the public transportation options in the Riviera. Thanks again for the information.
