How many days will you be in the Naples area? You might find the 3 day Campania Arte Card Tutta La Regione pass(32€) beneficial as it includes 3 days travel in Naples (metro/tram/bus), Circumvesuviana train to Sorrento/Pompeii/Herculaneum, Sita buses down the coast (Sorrento/Amalfi/Positano) and two free entrances (Pompeii, Herculaneum, museum in Naples, etc.) and discounts after the free entrances.

FYI - The 7 day card does not include transport.

Peter-I got back onto the rental company and they are now letting me drop off bags at 12.30 so I booked the earlier train - thanks for tip off on free child offer! Seems I will get a bit longer in Rome after all.
Hopefully we will get some sights in despite the afternoon heat!
Trains seem regular enough from Sorrento- picking up in Sant'Agnello on way to naples?

Kybourbon- we are in the sorrento area for 5 nights... Thanks for the tip

That all sounds very good - with great cooperation from the apartment lessors!

If its three-consecutive-days format fits your schedule whilst here in Campania, do indeed consider the shorter version of the recently-revised "All Region" Artecard - whose new offerings I've written about in...

http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowTop..._Campania.html

Those are not on sale at the airport these days, so you'd perhaps be best looking for it at the station news stand in Sorrento, after arriving there on the Curreri bus.... a semi-official but long-standing outlet!

..................

That package is slightly more generous than the equivalent offering in Rome - although we've found the "RomaPass" (€34 now) to be very useful for some of our busier visits!

Details....

... with most of what's missing from there explained in...
http://www.romapass.it/p.aspx?l=en&tid=33

.... except that you might want to note that - after a recent change of policy by the Culture Ministry, as yet not documented on every one of the associated websites - ALL under 18s (rather than only those from EU countries) now get free admission to the state-run museums and sites etc.... including places such as the Pompeii group, the Colosseum etc!
