train Helsinki to St. Petersburg

I'm planning on taking the Allegro high-speed train from Helsinki to St. Petersburg. I believe it's a Russian train. I haven't been on a Russian train since 1967, and I wasn't very impressed then.

Has anyone taken this train or a similar train from Helsinki to St. Petersburg? If so, what were your impressions?

Any advice?

Allegro is a Finnish train. It´s run by VR, which is our national train company

We took the train from Helsinki to St. Petersburg in 1995. I did not have the impression that it was substantially different from any other western European trains.
