Train Help!

Hello. My finance and I will be celebrating our honeymoon very soon (in 2 weeks!) in Italy. Our transportation once we get there seems to be more difficult to figure out than we thought. If anyone can point us in the right direction, it would be much appreciated.
We are flying into Rome, then taking a train to Sorrento (we do know that we'll have to change trains in Naples).

Which train is the fastest to Naples? How should we get to Sorrento? Train? Bus? We don't want to hire a driver.

Hi ...

I've actually done this a few years ago .... look at http://www.trenitalia.com/home/en/
as this gives you the times (rome - naples). I think the quickest trains are ES* ones ... take about 1.45 hrs. Go 1st class & reserve. Very comfortable

To get from Naples to Sorrento, catch the Circumvesuviana line. Takes a good hour. Sorrento is the last stop on the line. Try http://www.vesuviana.it/infoeng.htm for english website.

Have a great honeymoon ... assume you have hotel ???

Mark

Hi HM,

Train schedules for Rome/Naples are at www.trenitalia.com/en

To get to Sorrento you take the Circumvesuviana, which is a commuter train, from the lower level of the same station.

Hi ...

Just to follow to my early post ... catching the train from Naples to sorrento is very easy, just follow signs for Circumvesuviana line & make sure you head towards Sorrento.

Also do not expect any offers of lifts from people within the station ... these are unauthorised taxi people & most likely have no insurance etc.

Wow - you guys are all great. Thank you for your help.

Ira - to answer your question: a shuttle bus from our hotel is to meet us at the airport upon arrival.
