Train from Venice to Paris

Three of us will be taking a train from Venice to Paris. Rail Europe's website only gives us an "overnight" option.

We have two choices for "sleepers". Put 3 of us in a four person sleeper or get two 2 person ones that will sleep 2 and 1.

Question is: What are the chances that Rail Europe will try to sell a single to bunk in with us. Which option would give us the best chance to prevent that from happening.

I was surprised to see that there were no T3 compartments on this route. See this euraide site for prices:

http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/euraide/t0222ven.htm

I'm not positive, but I think the 4th bed COULD be sold to somebody else. That would be true of the 2nd bed in a 2 person sleeper also, unless you pay the 1 person price. Maybe you could buy all 4 reservations?

That would be an expensive option, but a possibility. Does anyone know how big the compartments actually are. Is a T2 one half the size of a T4????

re: difference in size.

Each compartment would have a narrow (2 foot?) aisle. Either 2 bunks to one side, or 2 bunks on each side. Quite compact...

Bigdog,

There is a train that runs during the day from Venice to Milan to Paris. That takes 10.5 hours. At long trip, but another option. Have fun.

Greg
RailEurope are underinformed and overpriced. The night train has the cars you list, but also has second class three berth sleepers, with a door that locks and chains for security, and costing a supplement of 45 euros.

As Elberko says, you pay less if you order through
Euraide, offices in Florida and Germany: http://www.euraide.de/. Telephone in USA 1 941-480-1555. Fax 1 941-480-1522. E-mail [email protected]
DER travel agency in the USA, formerly owned by German rail: http://www.der.com. E mail for information [email protected] and for sales [email protected]. But please get the Euraide quote as well, as this firm is said to have fallen to RailEurope.

There are day connections, too, with views of the Alps and changes in Milan: please ask Euraide or me (but not railEurope) if you would like times

[email protected]

Wow. Never thought that flying between Venice and Paris was an option. Great rates...think I'll take to the friendly skies.
