Train from Milan to Paris?

Has anyone taken the train from Milan to Paris? We are a family of 4 who will have spent almost three weeks in Italy during July, and would like to visit Paris again for several days before coming home. We have taken the Chunnel and found it to be relaxing and refreshing- a perfect break between sightseeing-- and wonder if a train ride between Milan and Paris would be similar. Thanks so much.

There are TGVs that link Milan to Paris, via Lausanne in Switzerland, in about 5 hours (if I am not mistaken). You can check the schedules on www.sncf.fr

I took the trip a few years ago. The route I was on led from Milan through the Simplon Tunnel to Brig and then along the valley of Rhone via Sion and Sierre to Lausanne. In Lausanne, you change to the TGV, which takes you to Paris in about 4 hours. The fastest schedule I have been able to locate between Milan and Paris takes you through Turino (Turin). The train leaves Milano Central at 9:10; arrives Paris Gare de Lyon almost 7 hours later -- 6:48 on the schedule. Perhaps someone knows of a quicker connection. <BR>

We took this train last summer. It is very nice and comparable to the Chunnel train. Left Milan at 9am and arrived in Paris at 4pm. Check the website at www.artesia-geie.com/ Good luck.

My wife and I have made the reverse trip a couple of times Paris to Milan on the TGV departing Paris early am and arriving in Milan early enough to rent a car and drive up to Bellagio on Lake Como- don't miss it if you're in Milan.
