Train from Florence to Naples

My husband and I will be going to Italy for the first time the end of this month. We'll be in Florence for one week, and the Amalfi coast for one week. Is Eurostar the best, quickest way to get from Florence to Naples? We don't plan to stop anywhere along the way. Also, is the train luggage friendly? We plan to take two large bags, and I'm concerned if and where they will fit on the train. Any advice is appreciated.

Yes to both questions. you do not need to book long in advance, there is one Eurostar train to Naples every two hours, book your seats a couple of days in advance. Florence to Naples takes some 4 hours. You have three different options for your luggage: smaller bags can be placed in the overhead rack, larger bags can be fitted in the space between the two opposed seats and very large bags can be be left in the larger rack at one end of the car. Unlike what most people seem to think, thieves do NOT hop on and off trains with stolen bags. Mainly thieves on the trains work on night trains, stealing wallets from sleeping passengers (easier to find valuables in a wallet than in a suitcase) or (the least skilled ones) just visit trains after all the people have left them at their ending station to check out forgotten bags, so you dpon't need to worry about chains and locks.
