To check timetable, click Horaire - even if you can't buy a ticket you can check the times.

That said, I don't understand either what is going on. I don't believe that they have cancelled the train from Brive directly to Paris/Austerltiz, which should take 4 hours. - the line goes north/south from Spain/Toulouse/Paris. In fact every week when we go to the market in Souillac there are demonstrations regarding the possibility of smaller stations like Souillac (NOT Brive) being dropped. So far the association has been successful for a number of trains, which indicates to me that they are still running.

You may just have to wait until closer to the time to see more.

Or have a look at another possibility, the aiport at Brive (actually south of Brive, at Cressensac. There are flights most days, and you might pick up a cheap rate.

This is a recurring problem with the schedule of that line. My recollection is that the same thing happened last year, as if no trains were running between Paris and Limoges. I'm wondering if there is a programming glitch.

All of you make it sound so easy. I know that the "train-website-challenged" person that I've become will be able to figure it out with your help. I just have to wait until June 21st to try again.

I'll go back to reading the Dordogne posts about the scenic places we will see and plan some routes-----as I said above, I'm a planner.

You asked if we were happy with Avis. You may recall from my trip report that my husband and I had an incident involving the loss of the sideview mirror. We had used our Visa card for the insurance coverage. Trying to get paper work from Avis was trying. I did not realize that as I was still attempting to get copies of the repair bills, my Visa card had already been credited most of the money charged for the repair. As it turned out, the cost of the mirror was finally less than $70.00. But I never did get any copies that I had requested from Avis. If we had had a bigger problem involving more damage, this would have been highly stressful.

Therefore, next time I think I will use AutoEurope. They have a home office in Maine, I believe. I had used them once in Provence. I had problems with getting an automatic. I was able talk to their Maine office while we were in Aix. That made for easier problem solving.
