Traditional french onion soup in Paris
Where are some good places for traditional french onion soup in Paris.? Can you recommend any in the Latin Quarter, St. Michel, Notre Dame, St. Severin, St .Germain Des Prez areas. Tell me what you liked best about it. TIA

Hi Hpeabody, I stayed in the 6th in early June.
Had onion soup in so many venues around the Rue de Buci – all different but very good. Because the weather was damp/cold/rainy, they all tasted delicious with crusty bread and vin rouge – enjoy!

I would strongly suggest you find out about Soupe de Poisson.
It's something I discovered many many years ago, and is seldom available in the U.S. It is one wonderful soup.
I make my Soupe à L'Oignon Gratinée from the Jacques Pepin/Julia Child cookbook. I have gone so far as to buy the special crocks to bake them in at the end.
As long as you don't put too much wine in the soup or yourself, it will turn out great.
