tours to the Basque country

I have always wanted to visit the Basque Country in Spain and France. Anyone know of tours which travel to this region. We used to do a lot of driving tours on our own, but as we have increased in age, it has become more dificult to do this on our own. Besides tours, can anyone give us an easy itinerary to do on our own? But, as I have written, the less responsibility put upon us, right now, the better.Adrienne and Al Bromberg, Somers, NY in Westchester County/ [email protected] Thank you very much.

What do you want to do?

When do you want to go?

What is too much work on your end? What can you take on yourselves?
Are you able to drive or want to rely on public transport?

Finally, what cities/places are you interested in visiting?

Without knowing any of this, a simple itinerary would be fly into Bilbao, spend 2 or 3 days.
Drive or take public trasport to San Sebastian. Stay 5 days. You could choose a small town inbetween and stay in a b& b for a couple days. Drive to France and stay in Bayonne or if you prefer coast, St Jean de Luz for 4 days. You could take some driving trips around. Towns are close together. Continue to Bordeaux if you wish and fly out there. Or you could fly out from San Sebastian or Biarritz. Alternately you could swap anything with Pamplona. Just thoughts off the top of my head.

The OP also leaves out one important detail - how long is the trip?

I assumed two weeks-ish for ease. But yes.

This is the excellent blog of Mikel, who is a poster here and a local in the Basque country. He indicated in a previous post that he does tours, I don't know of what kind, but given the vast knowledge he regularly shares here and on TA, I'd jump on anything he had to offer.

I'd go with Mikel before even thinking about Rick Steves.
