Hi, I was wondering if anyone can tell me if it is really worth it to purchase in advance the london or paris metro/bus day passes. I am thinking it is cheaper and probably just as easy to buy them at the local stations, any thoughts?

I don't know about London, but you can pick up the day passes (a block of tickets) once you reach Paris.

Same in London...any tube stop has the passes.

AFAIK, the only Paris transport pass sold here is Paris Visite. It is a tourist rip-off.

You should buy a Mobilis day pass if you're going to be there one or two days, or a Carte Orange weekly pass if three days or longer. There are several threads about both.

Hi human: This whole site is about "Tourist Help".... may I suggest that next time you post with a more detailed heading? Like "London/Paris transport passes" or something similar - you'll get better responses.

Just buy your tube passes in London... you likely won't need all the zones the "Visitor" card gives you access to, so you'll end up paying for something you don't need. Chances are you'll only need Zones 1-2; if you go beyond on occasion you can buy a concession.

Oh, and by the way. If any children are traveling with you, the best deal in London is the Family Travelcard. It only costs £2.80 for adults and £.80 for children (Zones 1-2, which goes out as far as Greenwich). More here:
