'Would we return? Maybe, to catch the places we didn't have time for.'

There are so many places you didnt have time for. Check out St Genies and St Crepin.

Carlux---yes, there is so much more to see. St. Genies & St. Crepin were on my list along with many more places that you and others recommended. So much beauty--so little time.

Just read this report as part of a recent thread whereby you linked it. Fantastic details for our upcoming trip in September. This will be our 6th trip to France and having done 4 in the Fall, sorry to hear your weather was not good. We are coming in from Limoges-Bordeaux-Sarlat-Rocamadour-Albi-Toulouse-Arles and loop back to Paris over three week period. 5 nts in Sarlat, 3 in Toulouse. Yes, lots of moving around but only plan to have the car when we leave Bordeaux and will turn it upon arriving in Arles or Avignon. We really appreciate your details on Toulouse including restaurant recommendations. Agree with your first night's meal choice -- fuzzy brains need no more choices than that! Time for foie gras and duck in coming days! I too am a pottery (and Limoges) collector and DH already .on what I may justify dragging home, but of course only local wares will be considered. Will do more homework on what Cave to reserve in coming months Questions: Did you visit Carcassonne or Albi? Did you use the Cadogan guide? Thanks again for all your details, adding restaurants to our itinerary on Trip-It, hotels all booked but not transportation yet ....

We had great weather this past Fall, end of Sept early Oct, if a bit all over the map.

Shorts and sun dresses in Toulouse early on. We began one day in Sarlat at 0 degrees C, and ended at 20 degrees! Literally from gloves to coatless in a few hours.

(We had gooey, cheesy pizza on our first night-in bed in our pyjamas. Next night Cassoulet!)

Didn't visit Carcassonne or Albi or use Cadogan guide---relied on Fodorites and on line sites for information.
Albi was on our list---maybe next time.

Font de Gaume is accepting reservations, recently learned via another post; online process was very easy. Check off that!

TPAYT, just read your TR from almost 3 years ago. Very well written, lovely photos and good info. Seems you pace is the same as mine. Your TR will be helpful if I ever get to the Dordogne. I keep trying but seem to get waylaid elsewhere.

Glad you enjoyed it. The Dordogne was one of our favorite trips. We get so much out of other Fodorite TR's so we always try to give back.

Great report about an area I haven't been to yet. Wonderful photos, too (except now I'm hungry! Haha)
