Toscana itinerary-july 2008

I'm going to Toscana from july 11 to july 22.My plans are:

11 july-arrive in Pisa airport.Picking a rental car and drive to Lucca.Stay in Hotel Ilaria 4* for 5 nights.

12 july-stay in Lucca

13 july- go to Pisa

14 july-spend the whole day in Florence.

15 july-go to Cinque Terre(we definitely want to go there)

16 july-go to Siena for 6 nights.Stay in Grand Hotel Continental 5* and use Siena as a base for exploring.

17 july-Siena

18 july-San Gimignano

19 july-Montalcino and Montepulciano

20 july- Siena

21 july-Cortona

22 july-Veneza

We don't want to rush to one place to another and we don't wake up early.

Thanks for all suggestions.

First thoughts

Try and ensure the hotel will find a place to put the car

You want to avoid Florenece and Siena at the weekend

I guess to cover the ground you need to be based as you are.

Florence for one day seems a bit tight.

Lucca, Pisa and FLorenece could all be done by train (might be a good idea)

You are going to need to rush

Do I read it right - only one day in Venice?

You do not really need a car until you leave for Siena, and I would check parking options at that hotel. I too am confused by the Venice reference---are you flying home from there?

Is there any way you can stay overnight in CT? Perhaps drop the last night in Lucca or the first night in Siena? The Cinque Terre is so beautiful, I believe it deserves more than just part of a day.

Enjoy your trip!

Hi,friends. We're staying 3 nights in Venice, untill 25 july. From there my friend is flying back to Sao Paulo and I'll go to Munich-Germany.

Bilboburgler,we both have already been to Florence,so we don't want to spend more than 1 day there.Better go by train or by car?

Bobthenavigator, parking in Grande Hotel Continental in Sienna is expensive, but you don't have to worry with the car .For us ,it's not very convenient to depend on public transportation. Also we probably stop in Bologna for lunch on the way from Siena to Venice.

Sherhatfield,do you think it's REALLY intersting overnight in CT?Are there any 4 or 5 stars hotels there you can reccomend?

Thank you
