Torri del Benaco

I am staying at a friend's house in Torri del Benaco at Lake Garda. Can anyone recommend a restaurant or two. Mille Grazie

Many years ago, maybe the best in town was the restaurant of the Hotel Gardesana. At the time they didn't serve lunch and dinner was served on the terrace, with fine views of the lake. The hotel is a few steps from the ferry landing stage.

Sorry, I can't answer your question because we only stopped by and browsed through the town, never ate there, but thanks for making my day. Saw the post for Torri del Benaco and got an instant wonderful recollection of a wonderful little town with an interesting tower, great promenade along the lake, and bouganvilla spilling from every trellis and balcony. It's a wonderful place. You will enjoy it thoroughly. I envy yoy and hope the food lives up to the scenery. Enjoy

I was at LAke GArda lat summer-stayed in Malcesine--drove to Torri one day for lunch and rented a boat. There are many many restaurants on the lakefront-wonderful to sit ou and watch the lake, the people and the boaters. Oh yes, the flowers, and the gnocchi, and the pasta--ahhhhh

In her book on trattoria cooking, Patricia Wells mentions several restaurants by name in that area, although she doesn't give addresses.

Thanks xxx. Julie and Donna thanks for the lovely imagery your posts projected. Chris, I'll be sure to look for Wells' cook book in the library.

This thread made my day. We chose Torri del Benaco rather blindly while looking for a place to stay on Lake Garda this summer for a few days. I found Hotel Gardesana at random from a website that made it look like a wonderful inviting hotel that was next to a marina (one of my favorite spots be) and also makes for easy access to the boats to carry us around the lake. Now to find that the town is indeed enchanting and the hotel even has a good restaurant, I'm happy about my choices and can't wait to go.
