Torremolinos, Bajondillo apartments

We are considering a trip with Grand Cirlce Travel to Costa del Sol in February. We are going to use this as a base, rent a car and explore the area.

Our other accomodation option in that area is Sol Timor with Sun Holidays.

From a location perspective (walking distance to shops, restaurants, etc. which would be better? They both have beach views, but we won't be spending time in the water at the beach....in February.

Any other ideas? I like the idea of a kitchenette.

I have spent many winters with Grand Circle at the Bajondillo complex and have enjoyed it each and every time. However keep in mind it is NOT THE RITZ but the efficiencies are just fine, all have a balcony and now have television in the room (incidental, however nice) notice they are posting air conditioning now, however in the winter you don't need it anyway. The kitchenette is just fine and we have cooked many a meal on the two burners ;(cooked two veggies together). We used to take the original two weeks offered and like many others, added many additional weeks, going up to two months, as a lot of folks there do. The entertainment in the evening is fun and just a very friendly place. You will notice on the diagram it is just on a different part of the beach, however all waterfront. If you want anymore info, please write. Mary J.

Thank you so much for the reply. IS there any particular floor or location that we should request?

Also, is this the "in place to be" for the area? I would rather pay a little extra and have ready access to neat wandering places.....we are going with another couple..we are early risers, they are not...."meet you in a neat area for coffee at 10", rather than a bus ride to get to areas for rendevous.

thanks

et

Ellen,
All of the restaurants and shops in Torremolinas are within walking distance.

We stayed down the street from the Bajondillo, but we did go in and check out the hotel and rooms. Mary J described it pretty well. I don't know from personal experience, but it looked like all of the rooms have an excellent view. It's in a horse shoe shape, facing the sea. All of the side balconies are angled for a better view.

If I go back to that area, I plan on staying there.

Whatever you decide, have a wonderful time!

We are considering this Spain trip with Grand Circle as well. GCT also offers the Nautilus Hotel. Anyone stayed at the Nautilus? Opinions about it?

My first trip to Spain we stayed at the Sun Don Pablo which is a very nice hotel. While there we checked out the Bajondillo Apartments and decided to stay there on our next trip which we did in September.

I was very comfortable there and would like to point out that they have the studio apartments and also 1 bedroom apartments which are located at the end of each horseshoe. The 1 bedrooms are quite nice and large and I would say have the best view, although most of the rooms have good views.

It's a great place to stay for convenience to restaurants and shopping. And it isn't far to get to a train or bus.

When we were there in September they were starting to remodel the kitchen areas. It's great to have the frige and stove, even if it's just to make coffee or tea. And to keep that bottle of wine chilled!!

Planning to stay in Torremolinos with GCT at the Bajondillo Apartments. Plan to rent a car. Are there car rental outlets in town and can anyone recommend a particular car rental company? Would it be better or cheaper to reserve a car prior to arrival in Spain? Thanks.
