tops of swiss package
Hi, I would like expert's opinion of this package, sold by eurorail:
Day 1: Travel from any Swiss airport or border station to Interlaken (overnight Interlaken).
Day 2: Excursion Jungfraujoch (overnight Interlaken).
Day 3: By boat or train to Brienz and then by train via Brunig Pass to Lucerne (overnight Lucerne).
Day 4: Excursion to Mt Pilatus: Transfer by train or boat to Alpanchstad and by the cogwheel railway to Mt. Pilatus. Return journey by cable car and bus via Kriens to Lucerne (overnight Lucerne).
Day 5: Departure from Lucerne to any Swiss airport or border station.
I have 6 days for this part of the trip in june, so how good it is in general and price wise? Price is $405 pp.

If you are the kind of person who is more comfortable with having someone plan your trip and escort you on pre-packaged tours, then this package you described is good. However, in my opinion, I would like more flexibility and could probably even save a little money by making the same trip on my own time and with my own plans. But don't get me wrong; the trip and the sights will be spectacular, especially if this is the first time you will experience Switzerland. Good luck.

I agree with Wayne. You will be seeing the best of the Swiss Alps and will have a great time. However, you could do it on your own and pick your own timing and hotels. I would not stay in Interlaken--Wengen or Grindelwald would be my choice. This is a very good standard package tour, but nothing you cannot do yourself--perhaps for less.

Good afternoon, csdmxp
Agree with Wayne and Bob that might do
best by doing it by your self. There are
a number of people outehre who feel more
confortable on escorted tours. and that
is why others such as us had taken escorted tours (3) in the beginning and
finially dared to go on ones own..(18).
One minor plus was noted on the last trip up Pilatus and that at Alpnachstad
there were more passengers than places on the incline railway. The blance were
left for the next train....Am sure that
the tour would get preference to the
train???? Richard of LaGrange Park, IL>.

Hi When are you going? I am taking the Tops of Switzerland tour in July and combining it with my own reservations for 4 nights in Grindelwald and 4 nights in Murren. I also took an extra night in Interlaken and Lucerne. I will let you know how my trip went.
