Too many/too few days in Prague??

I need your expert advice. I'm planning a trip to Prague and Budapest...from Wednesday to Monday.

I'm thinking of splitting the days like this:
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: Prague
Saturday, Sunday, 1/2 day Monday: Budapest.

What do you think? Should it be more days in Prague, with only 1 1/2 days in Buda.

Thanks for your help...(so excited!!) dee

They are great cities which you will enjoy. Depending on when you are traveling (7 hours by train), I wouldn't cut the times. You could spend more time in each but you will get a taste of both.

Dee, both cities are wonderful, take plenty of film and good walking shoes.
Have a look at the photos I took of our trip to Prague.
http://albums.photopoint.com/j/Album...3732&a=1935841
We can't wait to go back again.
Peg.

I loved both cities but with only 2 1/2 days in Budapest, you'll barely scratch the surface. I spent 7 days there and could have spent more. It is much larger than Prague. Prague escaped damage during WWII and the buildings are lovely. Budapest is still repairing from the war and the soviets but is still one of the most beautiful cities that I’ve ever been in. Get 3 day metro passes in Budapest. The Metro system is great and you can get to anywhere in the city. I bought a 7 day pass for approx. $7.50 there.

Thank you all for the great feedback.
Now I'm thinking about taking 8 full days and doing 4 in Prague, 4 in Budapest...ah, the pleasures of travel. and hey, if I add another 3 days, maybe I could add Vienna of course, I'd come back to no job, but that's not sounding too bad right now!!

We just returned from your trip and spent three days in Prague and one and a half days in Budapest (2 nights) In retrospect, I would do 3 and 2 (or 3). Both places are great.

Is anyone able to provide any further info on the Mozart tickets for $12-15?

You can buy the tickets on the street from people wearing the period costume or check nethotels.com for events in prague and order there. If you are there before Oct. 31, you can take day trips from Prague to other cities by catching a bus near the Opera House. See the Charles Bridge at night.
