can help me decide? I have only one day for a side day trip. I am torn between Toledo and Segovia.

Toledo always takes my breath away -- standing on the bridge, looking up at the town the same as it was when El Greco painted it in the 1590s *sigh*. I'll be there in April and can't wait!

Toledo for a day trip, more to see. Segovia if you wanted a few days to relax because it SEEMS not so overrun with tourists as Toledo. The streets of Toledo are very narrow, making it difficult not to walk into others and cars.

I had to choose only one for my last trip to Spain, and went with Segovia. I thought it was beautiful, and didn't regret my choice.

Segovia. I think the "Toledos" will probably outvote us before this thread is done, but I really enjoyed my daytrip there. If weather permits, the little path along the stream below the town is a fabulous walk, with great views of the Alcazar. Search for my Spain trip report for details.

It's a tough choice, but maybe it helps to think about what you will see.

Toledo, I think, is more fun to walk around the old town streets and get lost. It has the cathedral, the old jewish quarter and lots of little streets. And it's all up and down hill. It's very pretty.

Segovia has the amazing aqueducts, a really cool Alcazar, the cathedral, the very small jewish quarter. It also has a gorgeous narrow valley. You can walk down to the bottom and up the other side - where there is a monestary, a unique church, and wonderful views of the Alcazar from the far side. I really enjoyed my time hiking around this area.

I don't know if this helps at all. Toledo is pretty, but I thought Segovia was more unique for it's vista and the aqueducts versus other towns (I spent a week in Andalusia as part of my trip).

Either way, though, I doubt you will be disappointed. Have a great trip.

I agree with Kaudry regarding Segovia being more unique. She said it very well. One thing I enjoyed as well was the scenery on the bus ride to Segovia.
