I agree the Dordogne for two days is not enough, you will definitely need a car to get around -- a week in a gite is very special if you go the best markets are at St. Foy Le Grande each Saturday and this area has wonderful gites.

Except that Ste Foy la Grande is nowhere near anything that this poster wants to see. Sarlat is at the other end of the Departement (and for those of us who live in the area at least, more interesting than the area around Ste Foy.) I've never been to the market there, but can't see why you would go when there are interesting markets here, in Sarlat, Le Bugue, St Cyprien)
