Titisee or Schluchsee in June

Found two deluxe hotels (about 30 minutes apartfrom each other)in the Southern Black Forsest: Trescher's on Lake Titisee and Hotel Vier Jaheszeten above Lake Schluchsee, which is a much larger lake. Does either one have more benefits?

Appreicate the feedback!

Sorry, but not suggestions here.

It's good to learn something new in Fodors everytime.

TITISEE? Pulling out my atlas to see where that is and excitedly waiting to get my travel agent on the phone first thing tomorrow morning.

Makemyday -you made me laugh! My high school German class went to Germany on a short-term exchange program about 16 years ago. Big mistake bringing a group of exceedingly immature teenagers to a place named the Titisee one weekend. Brings back memories.

Nancy Ann:
Titisee is FAR more touristy with busloads of tourists during the day, quiets down morning and evening.
Schluchsee is the larger lake, but FAR fewer things to do in 'town'.
Both have boating possibilities (sailboats, peddle boats, roundtrip lake tours), and paths around the lakes for hiking or biking. Depending on time of year, both allow swimming and sunbathing. Nude beaches can be seen on boat tours (so, if this is your thing...)
So....it all depends on what you want to do, shop, eat nonstop, hike/bike/swim or just sit out on your balcony overlooking the lake, relaxing with a drink in hand...

By the Way,
Are the readers here familiar with Mt. Titlis in Swizerland?
Went there with my teenage nephew a few years back... We bought TONS of TITLIS postcards which he eagerly sent home!

Hi, apart from the titillating name of Titisee and that it's located in Germany would this destination make a good half-day trip from Colmar? Or would a visit to both Kayserberg and Ribeauville be better?
Thanks.

I can't answer your question as to comparison between the two but I have stayed at Treschers. We arrived in Titisee on the third night of a short break in October 3 years ago.The fact that this was a Romantik hotel appealed together with its location. We had a good deal and enjoyed it a lot. The hotel had recently been refurbished and was very comfortable. We had a room overlooking the lake and a lovely bathroom. The breakfast was superb lots of meats cheeses and first rate coffee-as well as everything else you would expect. It is right in the middle of the village which was almost deserted when the day trippers left.
We had only moved on because the hotel we had spent the first two nights in (Hotel Benz in Gengenbach) couldn't accomodate for the third night but I will definitely stay here again!
