Tips on itinerary
Hi,
I am thinking of travelling to Europe August 2006 Arriving Frankfurt 21/8/06 and hiring a motorhome for 68days.
I intend to use the following route with 2 and 3 day stops in major centres.
I am interested in what others may think of weather and crowd conditions in the destinations and dates I am proposing.
Late August> Frankfurt Munich Prague Vienna Budapest 10 days
September>,Krakow Warsaw Gdansk Berlin Amsterdam Northern France Omaha 30 days
October>Paris Lyon Pisa Florence Rome Venice Geneva Zurich Frankfurt Depart 30 days
Frankfurt 30/10/06
Also is this enough time to fit this itinerary?
Many thanks in advance
MJ

It's probably fine. Back in 1967 I did ten weeks picking up a car in Wolfsburg, Berlin, Salzburg, wandering through Yugoslavia, Italy (but no farther south than Florence), and quite a bit of France (the route des Alpes, the Gorges du Tarn, down to the Pyrénées, up to the Dordogne, a little bit of the Loire, Paris) and finally returned to car to be shipped in Antwerp.
I would by-pass Lyon, even though it has interesting things to see, and use Annecy as the point of destination. Are you intentionally leaving out the Loire valley? If so, from Paris you might want to use my photographs (and a decent map) to establish a route to go to Annecy.

trip2006: One problem may be your generic title. "Tips on itinerary" could be asking about anything anywhere in Europe. Well in a way you are . . .
But re-posting w/ a title some thing like "2 month RV trip Germany, Eastern Europe, France, Italy, etc. Advice?"

janis is correct in suggesting that you repost. I would add that you should be clearer on your intentions. Are the town mentioned just sign-posts indicating the area you want to cover, or are they the only stops on your itinerary? In other words, How much do you intend to see in-between?

If interested in Champagne, Epernay, France is a very interesting stop. The birthplace of Champagne. Quaint unspoiled village with lot's of history and it's interesting mix of people. There are lots of tours you can take. When I went, i was only 20, and it was interesting to me back then even.
