Thrift Store Shopping

I've been considering thrift store shopping for any clothes we may need, and maybe some souvenirs through our trip. As we are traveling just with one backpack each we think it maybe easier just to buy as we need and get something to remember our trip by.

Do you know any good thrift stores that you would recommend?

Our first stop is Lisbon, San Sebastian, Barcelona, all over Italy and then Switzerland.

Thanks!

I don't know about thrift stores, but in Italy there are always outdoor markets with tons of inexpensive clothes for sale.

Schuler, aren't "Brockis" what they look for?
Or do I misunderstand the meaning of "thrift store"?

I'm surprised by above comment. Perhaps this poster meant where he/she lives, not all over Switzerland.

Does thrift stores include Salvation Army or Caritas kind of stores? Then there are, where I live Geneva areas and I suppose there are all over Switzerland. There are also a few red cross second hand stores in Geneva, and I have seen other (non charity related) shops here and there.

Brockenhaüser: Yes, you are right. We do have them. All over Switzerland. I guess it is like a Salvation Army store. Do they take clothes as well? I don't know. They definitely have furniture and things. You would find some fantastic "odd" souvenier items there.

We do have Caritas in Zürich and Lucerne but I don't know if you can buy cheaper goods there.

I stand corrected and apologize for some misinformation.
