I would spend the whole time in Rome. You will hardly see what you want to see in Rome in that amount of time. I have stayed at the Hotel des Artistes and I highly recommend it. The hotel staff were great and speak english, it is near the main train station, a good breakfast is included, rooms are very clean and quiet, safe is in the rooms. www.hoteldesartistes.com

It's' a very short trip, I wouldn't dilute it and I would recommend staying just in Rome. You'll leave still wanting more, I hope.

I assume you know that this is Easter weekend, the most popular time in Rome (maybe tied with Christmas). Many hotels are booked, many museums will be closed as will many restaurants. Those that are open will tend to be crowded. Unless you want to see the Easter week festiviites, this is not the best time to go to Rome, Italy or most of Europe.

Capri is not fully open at this time as it is early in the season and still quite cool there. Pompeii is a possbility and should be open, but I would check.

Catholic Easter is observed this year on April 20th.

Traveltoomuch, please just stay in Rome. I'd recommend the Hotel San Carlo on via delle Carrozze, and breakfast is included. Ask for a room in the Annex, and tell Alberto that Signora Kathleen Kelly sent you! See the current exhibit at the Monument Vittorio Emmanuelle, it is great & open to the public for free! For your couples night, go to a restaurant on via Sistina called La Tavernetta, it's a fun time.

Buon Viaggio,
BC
