If she does have 2 million lifetime miles then she's AA Platinum/OW Sapphire for the life of the AAdvantage program.
but, unfortunately I was wrong in the earlier post. Regardless of the status, you still can't use the DFW lounges during the outbound. You are connecting to a non-OneWorld (Swiss) partner for the international segment, so no go. I would still try, but don't expect it. If it works, be thankful.
During the return, you will be able to use the JFK lounges, since you are coming off a OW(Iberia is a oneworld partner) international flight connecting to AA. So at least your mom's status gets you access in New York.

Swiss was never OneWorld. It was and still is an AAdvantage partner but codeshares have ended and so will the AAdvantage partnership soon. Swiss was bought by Lufthansa and they officially became a StarAlliance partner just recently.

Okay, I just logged back on AA.com and looked again. It says "Status: Platinum"- so I'm guessing that means she's platinum status, huh ? ?
Bummer about the AC in DFW- I'll be very sweet and look nice... can't hurt.
I wonder if she's lifetime... that would be great for them! I know she's had over 1 million miles before, and I wouldn't be surprised if she's had a grand total of 2 milion...

There may be couple of months left on codeshares out of ORD and JFK, but trust me, it's all coming to an end. I can't keep up with all the small changes, but the total picture is true.

BTW, if the Swiss flight was AA coded, then the OP would have access to the AC in DFW. The important factor is that the ticket/boarding pass has to have AA flight number, NOT Swiss flight number.

AC membership is not part of it.
AC and OW business lounge access only is, but only during deep international travels and when flying or connecting with OW partners.
OW partners:
AA, British Airways, Iberia, FinnAir, AerLingus, Cathay Pacific, Qantas and LanChile.
Soon to join: Japan Airlines, Malev Airlines (Hungarian) and Royal Jordanian Airlines. These were "officially" announced, but could still be derailed, as BA did to Swiss.
Rumors, but only rumors: Ethiopian and WestJet(Canadian LCC, somewhat doubtful, but one never knows).

All miles are spendable, it's just that only the actual flown miles are counted towards status.
When it comes to spending the miles it does not make a difference how you earned the miles. They are all the same when you want to get a ticket.
That said, here is the chart:

How did you manage to read the chart ?
1) there is no one-way award - ok, they charge you the same miles whether r/t or one-way.
2) there is no distinction about day flight or night flight - where did you get that idea ?!
3) the 25K miles plus $250 is for purchase upgrade from Y to Biz, and it is a raw deal now it requires $250 co-payment. (unless you are exp). It used to be only 25K miles one-way. Meaning if you want to upgrade both ways you need 2 x 25K and 2 x $250.
4) AA biz class is not flatbed - it is not like you can lie down flat - it is probably a 140 degree recline and many times the foot rest does not work.
