This forum is great!!!

Just wanted to say thanks to Fodor's for providing us with a great forum to exchange thoughts and ideas. I've learned so much on this board that it is going to make my upcoming trip to Italy more enjoyable!

As for the actual trip, I will be doing a daily diary of sorts so I can share my experience when I come back. So many people have helped me with ideas of where to go and see, I just want to return the favour.

Thanks,
Rick

Hi Rick, besides a daily diary you might want to keep the receipts from the various places that you eat at as it is so easy to forget the names of restaurants. Have a wonderful trip!!

Not only keep the receipts for the name/location of a restaurant but the price you paid for your meal. A lot of us travel on a budget and knowing a place that is within our price range really helps!

Rick-- your gesture of posting with thanks and offering to pass along first-hand advice is very classy and certainly appreciated! Oftentimes many posters suck up space and time in this forum never to return with feedback nor advice. Hope you have a great time, do share whatever you can and feel like sharing; I am sure somebody certainly will benefit. Take care!

I have just recently discovered this site, and I also think it's great. I have already learned so much and gotten some great advice. Thanks to Fodor's and everyone.

And...what is a limoncello? I keep hearing good things about them.

Maire -

It's a delighful lemon flavored gift from the God's (can you tell I like it ) Made of alcohol infused with lemon rinds (the authentic from the Sorrento area of Italy) and sugar. A grown up lemonade!!

Maire, and remember: when life hands you a lemon, you don't make lemonade! As a Fodorite, you make limoncello

Thank you Cheryl and Faina...yum, I can't wait to try one!!!! I'll have to remember that, Faina, when we encounter problems in Italy.

Just located a bottle of Limoncello that we bought in Capri a few years ago last weekend. Gonna chill that stuff and down it this weekend after reading these comments. Thanks!

My trick to later be able to assist fellow Fodorites, is to collect business cards of restaurants and hotels. Both ones I eat at/stay in but also any others that look interesting. Helps me remember where I've been, and plan for the next time both.

What a great idea, Suze. I'm glad I read it before my trip, not after!

Thanks Maire! I hope you signed my guestbook on the main home page

I too collect restaurant and hotel business cards. I usually get 2 each so I can pass them out to friends.

I'll warn you though, people do laugh (with me, not at me i'm sure!)when I can pull business cards out of my every day wallet for a restaurant in Paris, a hotel in Puerto Vallarta, an internet cafe in Honolulu
