Lobo/Matt:
Do I recall discussing a mid May time for NYC ?
Susan and I went through our Portugal pictures with the last person in Pennsylvania that had not seen them - what a fabulous time! You guys (Loba, Lizz and Caroline included here as well of course) are the best !

I know this is not the right forum. We have either to move to US forum or to start a email based discussion group (if everybody who gave me his/her email grants me authorization to disclose that information). We are very excited with the idea of the NYDC but I'm still not optimistic as far the calendar is concerned. It will be hard to coordinate our availability, children's availability and Matt and Lizzy availability. I need an experienced project planner
(I hope MSProject to be of some utility)
I learnt that Easter break is a period to avoid. Matt prefers mid May, I prefer begining of June. Let's see if we could come to some kind of negotiation (at least to overlap some days).
Besides the normal touristic activities, I have to pick up some activities for the kids (15 and 20 by then). I know that some kind of American sport event (basketball, baseball, football) and lots of coke and street sold hotdogs will make them happy
As far as cultural activities are concerned, theatre, opera, etc are not options this turn, but some kind of visits related to the space exploration and movies industry are on (ok, I know NY is not Los Angeles, but there must ne something).
This is my last post about the NYDC in this thread. I'll find a more appropriate place to discuss it.
Matt, I need your inputs. Let's start a thread in US Forum?
May the force be with you (all).

Hi all,
I am new to this thread. I read a few posts and I hope that Matt is doing well. I am planning to come to Faro and Lisbon in FEBRUARY. I know I am crazy. It is the only time I get vacation. I am there the 9th - 17th.
I want to drive around the area and then drive to Spain and Gibralter.
Any suggestions/advice are greatly welcome. I thank you in advance for your time.
Ken

Hello everyone, firstly let me apologise for my tardy response to all your concern: it was very much appreciated in my recovery. Following my trip to England as you know I was in hospital for a couple of days having lazer surgery to clear through accumalated stones which had passed through my left kidney and caused it to fail completely. Now, prognosis is good, follow up operation in the new year and tests after 3 months to assess the recovery. Alcohol is permitted in moderation but I gave up drinking the hard stuff years ago.
I just want to thank you all for being there and thinking about me - I read a load of quality books that had been waiting, Uncle Tom's Cabin being the higlight. Now, back to Blighty on Wednesday for Christmas and we'll be back in Portugal January 7th.
As Lobo kind of mentioned NYC is a go for us, (I'm not sure of his plans) but our agenda is set for sometime in May 1 week - 10 days. Now, having done the tourist bit years ago I can predict our schedule will involve at least a day in the Met, a performance of the NY Phil at the Licoln if they are playing, Yankees at home, Broadway show, a day in Brooklyn with old classical music colleagues, and of course the biggest damn dining club ever ;-) We have to look at assembling everyone in one place at the same time, perhaps a slice of pie at Two Boots Grand Central? ;-) Or I know the best vegetarian place in the city down in the village. Or dim sum in chinatown - oh how the list is endless.
(And so that is NYC in May, South Africa in August and still do we have to squeeze in a trip to China and Mongolia at some stage in 07.)
Once again thankyou all, and should I not be back before flying to England, have a happy Christmas etc wherever you are and whatever you may be doing.
Be good and stay safe, happy trails,
Matt

There wasn't but there is now ;-)
The only activity we have confirmed so far is the huge international LDC on the 17th March.
Plese undertstand that LDCs are always difficult outside Fridays or Saturdays, because we enjoy to drink ant eat and it's difficult to work hard on the following day. If you don't have the option of a Friday or Sturday, we can always do a miniLDC. The difference is that instead of going home by 1 am, we go home by 11 pm and try to have a light meal with coke, instead of a full meal with red wine.

Maybe the sweets he ate during Christmas eve are affecting his mind
