I have learned what a powerful tool the internet is and how this forum has become the standard among travel sites for Europhiles. Did you see the post from the manager of the Hotel Laurin in SML about their breakfast. He monitors comments from customers on this site. Now that is awesome !

xxx, if you put "raclette" into the search box at the top of your page, scroll down to Switzerland in the box to the right and press "find," you'll see that 17 posts appear from the archives. Bon appetit!

You're right on (as usual), Bob. The people who share information and resources on this board have made Europe infinitely more accessible to its readers. I'm in awe of the Fodorites who are so willing to share their travel experiences. It's a good thing...

I found this forum by chance only 4 months ago while I was surfing for information to prepare our vacation in Florida. My big problem is not knowing enough English to understand all the messages and the specific expressions you all use (I speak Dutch and French).

In these 4 months, I learned a lot of English, a lot of people gave me very good advices before leaving to the States. Now I am happy when at my turn I can help somebody with his/her voyage to Europe.

I've learned bunches from these postings, thanks to so many who share -- I even enjoy the put downs or flaming I guess it's called, which really seem to help get a discussion going here. My wife and I are heading to Germany, Italy, and France in 10 days for our first visit and we'll see if we can put it all to good use. It won't be the postings'fault if we miss something -- it will be like these computers, not the computer but an operator problem if we don't pull it off like we're hoping we will. Biggest regret going in is that I do wish we could speak the languages - we got copies of the tapes, the books, made flash cards, and it just doesn't seem to sink in with us for some reason. But many posting say this won't be a problem - hope not. We'll post some sort of report of how it goes when we get back. Thanks everybody, whoever you are!
