I didn't find three nights too long for Toledo, but I was there at the right time for the Corpus Christi celebration (June 19 next year). The procession was a magnificent sight, I had the cathedral to myself the day before, and normally blank-faced houses allowed visitors in to see their courtyards.

I didn't find three nights in Toledo too many either. I did do a day trip to Consuegra from there.

Hi Joannyc - How did you do your day trip to Consuegra from Toledo. Bus? Rent a car? Thanks.

Hi Maitaitom,

I mentioned it up thread but it has been buried since April! So I'm copying it here...

<< I did rent a car (outside the walls) the day before leaving Toledo to drive out to Consuegra and the windmills. I left the car in a free lot by the bus station on my return and took the bus back into town. The next day, I took a taxi back to the car with my luggage. >>

It was a Europcar car thru either Kemwel or AutoEurope.

I really would not recommend driving inside the walls of Toledo as the streets are very, very narrow. I've driven in towns with narrow roads before but glad that I didn't here based on where my hotel was based in the center of this maze! And, I don't believe my gps would have even worked!

Have a great trip!

For better or worse…the trip is planned:

5 nights Barcelona…We take a late afternoon flight to Granada on Day 6
3 Nights and 2 Full days Granada
Rent a car and drive through White towns…staying somewhere for one night
Then 3 Nights Sevilla
Early train to Cordoba - 1 Night
Train to Toledo - 3 Nights (maybe a partial day trip out to the windmills or just extra wine drinking and tapas in Toledo)
Train to Madrid - 4 nights

Thanks for all your help….

Sounds great. Just make sure you book the trains as soon as booking opens.

If we booked a 10 a.m. visit to the Alhambra, when would you suggest we book Nasrid’s Palace. Noon? I know we get the boot at 2, correct? Thanks.

I opted for a ticket that let me go straight to the Nasrid Palace so I could spend as much time as I wanted there and not have to worry about watching the time.

And I second thursdaysd's question. I recommend visiting the evening AFTER your day visit.

maitatom,
My understanding is that you either book a morning or afternoon session; the more specific time is the actual entry time for the Nasrid Palace. So the 10:00am slot would be your entry time.

I believe that the other ticketed areas can be done within the morning or afternoon slot (Generalife, etc), and nonticketed areas can be entered at any time. Also, depending upon which gate you enter, there can be a long walk to the palace; and there is often a line to enter the Nasrid Palace, so it's important to arrive before the actual entry time to make sure that you get to the line.

Anyone who knows better, please correct me if I'm wrong! I'm looking to buy tickets for May as well.

Paule

We were booked for 3 nights in Granada this month (geez, right now I just realized) but had to cancel for medical reasons.

I don't know if you and your friends like private guides - but I had booked a tour with this well regarded guide. I booked the Alhambra tour plus a separate food market/tapas tour. Granada was to be our first stop in Andalusia and I wanted to get a good grounding in tapas talk so thought a food tour would be fun.
