The Scout

When we go on vacation I am the designated person that goes into the neighborhood, after we are settled in our rooms, and finds the grocery store, bank, post office, and drugstores. My friends are more introverted and they feel overwhelmed in new cities.
Are there any others like me out there that cant wait to dive head first into a new place and loves to be the scout?

Yes. I do this for my wife and me. I take the opportunity while she is resting to go out and scout and/or pick things up. I also try to get up early and take a walk. I enjoy this, but would not find it much fun if it were for a number of people.

Hi fellow scout.
I think that it is most of the fun.
Mark Twain tells of his 'scouting' in "Innocents Abroad"

My wife and I usually wind up scouting independent of each other. We always plan some individual time and usually head off in different directions. She managed to find this unbelievable sandwich shop in Paris on one of her shopping excursions.
