The Most Awesome in Sistine Chapel & Vatican Museum
How do you get in to the Sistine Chapel, as well as the Vatican Museum.
If its not part of the local tours (ie Papal Audience on Wednesday, or Papal Blessing on Sundays), then how do you get tickets for it.
What are the most interesting things and awesome things you can see in Vatican Museum?

The Sistine Chapel is in the Vatican Museum. The tickets are sold at the museum entrance. I went with a walking tour, and it started at noon because there was a better chance of getting in at that time with no waiting in line.
Highlights in the museum include the Sistine Chapel, the Rafael rooms, some amazing classical sculpture, much more.

Actually, the Sistine Chapel is in St Peter's Basilica, but when you go the Vat. Museums, the S. Chapel is the end of that tour.
You get tickets by standing in the ticket line.
Any guidebook, and the free information here on Rome at fodors.com, can give you basic information on seeing the Vatican Museums. When you buy tickets, the walk through is laid out for you.
All of the walk throughs end at the Sistine Chapel, which by the way can be extremely crowded and noisy.
You can also go with a guide from a tour group, such as Enjoy Rome, Scala Reale, or Through Eternity.
If you do a search right here on Vatican, you will find many past suggestions.

We got in line early so that as soon as they opened for ticket sales we were there. We headed directly to the Chapel and had the pleasure of being there with only a dozen people for about an hour before the crowd arrived. It was worth getting up early.

The Sistine Chapel is not part of St. Peter's Basilica but part of the Papal Palace. It was completed in 1483 as the Pope's private chapel. The current Basilica was begun in 1509 by Bramante. To enter the Sistine Chapel, you must purchase tickets to the Vatican Museum. The entrace to the Museum is about a 10 minute walk from the Basilica on Viale Vaticano.

Good luck, cause I sent a request in about 2 weeks ago, and I still haven't heard back from them.

You could spend days in the Vatican Museum; there is so much to see. We found renting the headsets at the entrance to be most informative. They come in a multitude of languages, and are so easy to use. Sure beats trying to find information on each exhibit in a guide book. The information is alot like what you would be given by a tour guide, but this alows you to move on at your own pace.
