LOL, I am guessing a 'Pisher' is a word that sounds like the word we are more used to, which is a good word to describe what the dog does when he lifts his leg on a tree or that fellow yakking at the top of his lungs on the train..Am I right kakalena?

I will refrain from complaining here as I AM a Traveler and not perfect so I will stay out of this aspect of the thread~

Tropo said it all.

I cringe when I see a fellow tourist, from any country, being mean/nasty/condescending to a local person.

That being said, I have certainly had my moments of cluelesness that must have (I hope!) given the locals cause to laugh.

"Pisher," (alt. "pischer&quot is a Yiddish term for an immature or "wet behind the ears" person, usually someone acting above his/her years.

The term is usually employed by an Alter kakher.

I think I see the next question coming: "What is an Alter kakher?"...

Indie, : )

Pisher: A bed-wetter, a young inexperienced person, a person of no consequence.

and Scarlett, ; )

Yes, those types deserve a "leg-up". I'm equal opportunity about this though, I feel the same about 'pishers' of any age. : ) Why would they possibly think that anyone would want to listen their business moanings? Gah!

K.

People who insist on traveling everywhere in a pack... large groups blocking the sidewalks, speaking loudly and at length in English, totally unaware of their surroundings, and/or inconveniencing local people.

On a high note, my lady "L" who celebrated her mid teen - something 50th B'day on Sunday received a special compliment from a sweet, attractive Hot (pousada) exec in PT in July.
"I want to look and act just like you when I'm your age"!
M
PS she really looks about 50 without any ridiculous cosmetic intervention and acts even younger.

Eating with one's mouth open. Poor table manners generally.

Chewing & clicking gum.

No volume control: catch a clue people, there's no need to shout. We call all hear you perfectly well

The "most annoying" thing: that they ask this kind of question RATHER THAN: "What is the nicest thing about other travelers?"

okay Topman,
The nicest thing about other travelers is that many of them travel during the summer and I almost never do.
Seriously, most of the other travelers I have met have been very nice and some lots of fun. Luckily for me, I have a great memory and rarely remember rude people.

My pet peeve is people who stop just at the top of stairways, revolving doors, entrances, exits, walk-ways, etc... to look at a map, get their bearings or wait for their travel companions. Is it that difficult to step aside out of the flow of traffic?

Or when people (usually young people) congregate in the middle of a walk way while waiting for a bus, train, plane, etc...

Kayb95,

What you are describing happens at malls all over the USA, it happens at State Fairs, it happens at movie theaters...in other words, it happens everywhere and has nothing to do with being a tourist.

Let's face it, annoying travelers are most likely annoying people back home as well.
