the Latin Quartiers

Stopping in Paris for 3-4 days in the end of August but don't know where to stay. Looking for a reasonable hotel or hostel in the Latin Quartiers. Rather not spend a lot of money but want a place that is secure and is close by a fun night scene.

"<i>Rather not spend a lot of money</i>"

What do you consider a lot of money? What is your actual budget?

Since you mention hostel, I presume your budget is very low. Here are a few that have great locations

The first 4-5 are probably the cheapest

The hotel Leila names is actually in the Latin Qtr, NOT St Germain. They just use that in their name, as St Germain is a more expensive and chic area. They are near bd St Germain,I suppost that is their justification (which runs E-W through St Germain and the Latin Qtr).

A basic chain hotel is the Timhotel jardin des Plantes. It is in the eastern edge of the Latin Quarter, across street from Jardin des Plantes, one blovk from Seine, university area, cafe and patisserie across the street, Arene de Lutece around corner, quieter,etc.. Some very good resturants nearby.
