The Jardin des Plantes in Paris
The Jardin des Plantes is beginning to look lovely, but it will look even better in May and June, so if you are going to be in Paris, you might want to take a look at it, especially if you have an interest in gardening.
I was there on Monday and made a little report about it: http://tinyurl.com/27kd9mn

Yes thanks for the pix - brings back many warm memories of sitting in these wonderful gardens whilst waiting for trains at Austerlitz
Beside plant-watching people-watching is great - a popular jogging and strolling venues for locals.
The gardens have been totally re-worked in the past few years i believe to make them even better
The backdrop of the Neo-Classical Natural History (?) Museum buildings adds to the lure.

If seeing the gardens just across the busy highway and along the banks of the Seine is another often overlooked park - the open-air sculpture museum with modern sculptures spaced along the banks - with Notre-Dame Cathedral sublimely backdropping it all
A sweet walk from the Jardin des Plantes thru the alfresco statue park to Notre Dame, all along the old quays of the Seine

Wonderful, kerouac! Thank you for sharing. The images bring back memories of being 'stranded,' unable to fly out, in the days immediately following September 11, 2001, and spending days wandering the parks of Paris. (An earlier version of the recent volcano panic.)
Here are more images of Jardin des Plantes, in autumn this time, as well as Parc de Bercy, Versailles and Vaux le Vicomte, for those who need an additional 'garden fix.'
