The Unicorn Tapestries were the main reason I wanted to visit the Cluny the last time we were in Paris, and I was not disappointed. They are displayed beautifully and I thought they were absolutely wonderful! Also enjoyed touring the whole museum inside and out. Got some great photos.

I was thinking my obsession with DaVinci Code and Angels and Demons would end by now but it hasn't. I read DaVinci Code about 2 months AFTER I just got back from France. Actually, I think all the buzz on the book happened when I was there. Needless to say, I was depressed trying to remember all the places in the Louvre and of course the inverted pyramid. I think that a tour based on the book would be amazing!
I read Angels and Demons on my flight to London this fall. While the book is set in Rome, it did reference a statue that was housed in the V&A Museum in London. I happily went to the museum to snap a picture of it. I had also planned to search out the Temple Church referenced in DaVinci Code. As others I think have mentioned, this is one hard church to find. The day I went, it was mysteriously closed and then later, one of my pictures didn't come out on my digital camera. Talk about creepy!
I gave Angels and Demons and DaVinci Code to about 5 people for Christmas to pass the obsession along. I know there is a movie in the works for DaVinci Code. I suppose we will have to see if it can do justice to the book.

Kevin Spacey?....oh, yeah!!! (he happens to be one of my favorite actors!). Harrison Ford has that Indiana Jones-Professor thing going, but hey, opinions are like kittens and I was giving mine away... (I am sure you heard the risque version of this one =D> )...

oooh...what about Jude Law as Langdon?!!!? I like the idea of Audrey Tautou as Sophie but, at the same time, if this turns out to big a big blockbuster, I don't want her to be in it...I enjoy her artsy/independent film feel too much! To me, she's someone who hasn't been Hollywood-ized (yet)!
P.S. What about Gerard Depardieu as Silas??? He has the body type I'd imagine but I don't know...

I read the Da Vinci code on my way to Paris in November and really loved it. It was a lot of fun to go to all of the sites mentioned in the book; St Sulpice, Louvre pyramid, etc (and to see them in a totally different light!). I now have to pick up Angels and Demons for our trip to Rome next week.
Another series of mysteries set in Europe are by Iain Pears. They revolve around the art world, are funny and also give a great sense of place.

we were in paris at christmas and i had read the book on the flight over. i agree with alanm1. it was great seeing all of the sights after having just read the book. it also made the louvre more interesting having some of the paintings explained. it is definately a must read before a trip tp paris.
