Hi Deb, Beside the Isle-sur-sorgue flea market, I like the Saturday morn one in Villeneuve-lez-Avignon that is across the bridge from Avignon. You can walk, take a bus or a boat there. I loved the walk passing the boule players. I hit upon a nice one one year in Capenttras but don't remember the day.
Most of the fabric shops are expensive so you'll do better at the markets. Soleuido( sp/) in Tarascon sometimes have a sale on their fabrics. Paris: There are fabrics in the flea market in St Ouen but didn't check them out as I have trouble even sewing on a button. Avoid the junk stalls and head for the Vernaison marche.
Two great sites for whats on in Provence;

Mimi, absolutely wonderful!!!

Reading all of your trips reports together has been so fun!!! And I am going to look for "Murder in the Latin Quarter" to read before we go next month. We always stay in the Latin Quarter.

"we always headed in the other direction and not taking the right when leaving our building."

Mimi, whether you remember it right or not, this is so cinematic. The camera watches you all coming and going, and finally pulls out to a wide shot with the previously out of view doctor's "shingle" now in frame. Subtitle: "M. Lafitte / Podiatrist"

Ahhh , Mimi, thank you. I have not been able to use the computer and knew this was waiting for me ... I must go read the other two now.
I think Fodors must take up collections to send you and your friends to Paris at least once a year, so we can all enjoy these stories and good travel tips.
Merci beaucoup, mon cher ami

The Bastille market was my favorite on this trip.
here's a video and you can see why.
The radishes are so beautiful with their white tips and taste so much better than ours in the states.
Radishes always remind me of Julia Childs who loved dipping them i salt as I do1

cigalechanta,

Thanks for the geobeat link. That's one of best tips I've found here (there are so many). I loved it and just spent way too much time viewing all the offerings!

19 days, but who's counting?!?!

The markets are one of the reasons we got an apartment this time. We love the hotel we usually stay at, but I hate passing up all that beautiful food!

We don't have kids this weekend so we will spend time going over the other videos. I'm trying not to plan to much because I tend to turn into the psycho tour guide from hell!

One place I left out was the flea market at
Place d'Alegre Market and the Metro stop is Ledru Rollin.
Thanks for reminding me, Miki.
Dick, Miki and I were disappoined. There was nothing of any interest. The few pieces of pottery we liked were either chipped or broken. The vintage clothes (I hoped to find )
were not acceptable.

Mimi, I love the geobeat Paris videos and just spent an hour getting in the mood from my trip in June. Many thanks!

After reading this thread I want to immediately read one of the Cara Black mysteries before leaving for Paris. Where should I begin? Our library seems to have them all.

I would start at the beginning! I read one in Paris (it was in our apartment and bought in Boston) and am reading one now. It would just be easier to have it all fall into place from the first one. Which I have not done by the way. Thus my suggestion

How far in is the Paris one? We really want to read that this week to gear up for our trip, if I can find it.
