CO doesn't have an international first class.

From all the boards I've read, most of the comments are neutral to positive. I think it's good PR for CO, despite flanneruk's reaction.

From AP News...
"Emily's escort, Newark-based Continental employee George Chiladze, said he was thrilled to be taking Emily back across the Atlantic.
They are flying in Business Class..

A heaving mass of dander? Repellent beasts?
My gosh.

That picture of Emily staring out the window, obviously behaving since she wasn't being confined to a carrier and crammed under a seat, made me think of how nice it would be if pet owners could indeed accompany their cats and dogs in the same manner on international flights.

I am happy Emily survived the entire ordeal; there were probably many points along the way of her journey in which she was in serious peril!

I hope after all this, the owners don't let her wander off and get herself into danger again. I'm sure it is must be interesting and stimulating for a cat to be free to wander outdoors...BUT there's too much risk that they will be hit by cars, attacked by predators, captured by sadistic people, poisoned accidentally or deliberately, or that they will kill birds and little wild animals.

This is a pretty amazing survival story. I still can't understand how she survived without drinking anything all that time.

An enjoyable very well-written true story, "The Cat Who went to Paris by Peter Gethers." He is a publisger and author and a screen writer who worked with Polanski on "Frantic." I loved the scene (amoung many) when "Norton," An Expensive Scottish Fold S**** in Polanski's tub.

Cigalechanta - I too read that book and found it to be so enchanting.

With people, like Flanneluk, who have such negative feelings about cats, it's another reason not to let them roam freely.

Since the cat was in quarantine for 30 days, the cat was bathed, thus washing away the dander that may have been on the cat.

I thought calling cats "repellant beasts" was really obnoxious, BUT tht does NOT mean that he would be cruel to cats if he encountered them, and it's a huge leap to conclude that people like him are among the dangers that cats face when they're out loose.

cmy, flanneruk is baiting. I don't take the person seriously, ït's been around along time under another name.

Dogs have masters,
Cats have staff

Nasty though his comment was, I just thought it unfair to suggest that he would present a DANGER to roaming cats.

I agree but cat lovers are very passionate. It's like some poster posting something negative here about another poster. To Whom it may concern: Don't do it.

cmt....methinks you're being a wee bit charitable to a toad like flanneruk. Anyway, he's one of those people (?) who gets a kick out of getting everyone's dander up. It's best he's just ignored.

<<methinks you're being a wee bit charitable....>> Aw, it must be because I'm a "dog person" and a bit of my dog has rubbed off on me.

Beware cmt, if your pup has "rubbed off on you", you must also be a "heaving mass of dander" LOL

Which reminds me of a man on the plane sitting in front of us not long ago..I was so tempted to offer advice regarding shampoo but I controlled myself..

<<On her flight home, Emily passed up a menu of peppered salmon filet and "opted for her French cat food" and some water, airline spokeswoman Courtney Wilcox said>>

Business class even!!

Mine is all cleaned up. Sunday she was bathed, and all her double/triple/quadruple layers of collie-shepherd fur were brushed and fluffed, and dander and mountains of shedded fur went into Petsmart's big garbage dumpster. I even washed her pretty teeth with a washcloth. Now if only she would stop eating her own _ _ _ _.

I tried giving my cat a little piece of my own cooked salmon once. She would have none of it--prefers her crunchy dry cat food from a bag.

This story just ran on Anderson Cooper. Emily (the cat) did indeed ride back in business class, with some fellow holding her in his lap. She had no comment for the reporters who met her at the airport.

I think Darby Conley got it right about cats: "The ancient Egyptians worshipped them as gods. Today we know they're nothing but stuck-up freeloaders." I know mine are.

I recently finished reading "Waiting for Gertrude." by Bill Richardson.
If you have ever seen the many cats that are in Pere Lachaise cemetary, you'll enjoy it. These cats have the spirits of the famous buried there. Alice is waiting for Gertrude Stein to return in a cat like she did. Some strange coupling goes on like Colette and Oscar Wilde both having the hots for Jim morrison. I think the author of "French Cats don't get ft,"another new book got the idea of his french cats recipes from Alice like Artichoke Vole.

I guess Emily will have to write a trip report for this site. Either that or a travel book, and the jacket photo will show her wearing a tiny beret, with a Gauloise hanging off her lip.

Gauloise are no longer the cigerette of Choice. Marlboro's are. Mostly women(I do)wear berets. A few men might but it is in the Basque country where it is usual for men.
