thereyet, you can delete downhill mountain bike riding, BMX racing and I think demolition derby from your list, we do these in Oz. Ness 07 are you from Victoria? I think in NSW Rugby league is much more widely played, or at least teleforecast.

"Wild cow milking"

Now this is the one that caught my eye. Don't think it'd catch on here in Britland as I can't recall ever seeing any wild cows. Would it work with wild ponies? We've got some of those.

Americans are clever - they invent sports where America always has the best team.

Unlike us who invent sports only for us to get beaten in them.

We're good at bog snorkelling though.

audere est farce:

Rodeo is an American sport and is very popular but some of the biggest stars come from Brazil so it's spreading.

And about NASCAR only in U.S. - just saw a story on the Roll Over Derby that recently took place in London - where folks got points for rolling their cars over the fastest i believe - that may be a uniquely Brit 'sport'

BTW who won the Spurs-Thugs rematch?

It was a draw - so they go through on aggregate score. The rotters.

It's the London Derby on Saturday - That's always fun.

Nope it was 2-1 to Seville over there - so 4-3 on aggregate

I hope we don't roll-over! It's Spurs v Arsenal at White Hart Lane on Saturday - the Capital's big football match. One of the world's great sporting rivalries.

This board always makes me want to find out things so...

the biggest participation sports in the UK are

walking (46%);
swimming (35%);
keep fit/yoga – including aerobics and dance exercise (22%);
cycling (19%); and
cue sports(17%)

Then it was

Swimming
Soccer
Golf
Weight training
Running
Tenpin bowling
Horse riding
Tennis

Scary, really.

I was at a cricket match at the Oval yesterday - and I am pleased to tell you that it wasn't in the least bit Americanised.

I even did something typically British - I got sunburned.

Hi, you'all

Sheila - you missed out fishing - often touted as the biggest UK participator "sport" [ I guess it's the last word that causes the problem as it's not much fun for the fish!]

audere - you can't have enjoyed that last goal more than i did -the look on my DD's face was a picture [she's a gunners fan - where di i go wrong?]

as for a fan base, the BBC were saying that 100 million chinese were going to be watching the Ding v ronnie match [in the snoooker world championship, for those not in the know] and that they have 10 million registered palyers. That's a lot of balls. [and tables and cues].

regards

ann

I was rather pleased by it. And a goooner in the family? I refer you to the well known song.....(to "que sera sera&quot

"When I was just a little boy, I asked my mother, what should I be,

should I be Arsenal, should I be spurs,

here's what she said to me:

Wash your mouth out son, and go get your father's gun, and shoot the scum!

Shoot the Arsenal scum!"

A bit extreme I'll grant you, but fair. Firm but fair.

PalenQ asked: "Do Spurs and my club, ManU ever tangle?"

Now, that is a good question from a knowledgeable fan. Anybody know the answer?
