It does mean Brocken - on Walpurgisnacht, which has just been, traditionally witches hold a festival on the Brocken - people party and burn bonfires. It's sort of a spring festival. When you visit that part of the world you can get witch souvenirs, little dolls of old crones on broomsticks.
