Thalys trains and Rail/Drive Pass

Are the Thalys trains or other high speed trains covered under the rail & Drive pass. I think I understand all you have to pay is a reservation fee? Any thoughts on if this pass is still worth while?

What is the overall itinerary? I have always viewed the Rail/Drive pass as most beneficial, if you want three one-day car rentals (something hard to arrrange separately).

Best wishes,

Rex

Thalys requires a suppliment with a railpass. This page has the info you need:

On looking at our itinerary I think we will end up keeping the car for 3 days, and driving it from Paris to Amsterdam. Our itinerary is, that we will be flying into Amsterdam, and immediately take the Thalys to Paris. Spend a week in Paris, then take 3 days to drive back to Amsterdam (stopping in Bruges). We are 4 people and the train is so expensive. It is cheaper and more convienent to drive back. My question now is, Our flight gets us into Amsterdam at 9 am, is it best to reserve the train to Paris from the US. Or, I'm afraid if our plane is delayed, we may miss our train. So is it better to buy the train tickets when we arrive at the Central Train Station? We want to get a first class train ticket, and to Paris as soon as we can. Thanks.

Hi Marbie,

You should be able to make the 13:13 THALYS. I wouldn't try for the 10:13.

Schedules are at http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de

You need to clarify from RailEurope if there will be a (hefty?) surcharge to drop a French car in Amsterdam.
