TGV Overnite Trip from Paris ?
In late October we will have about 1-2 weeks free to travel outside of Paris.(our apartment rental ends, but we have to leave from Paris) We would like to find somewhere to travel outside of France for a short trip via TGV there and back.
What cities might be best to travel to at that time of year? Strasburg? Bruges? Prague or other?

Strasbourg sounds fine, as well as Belgium if you want. Prague is not feasible, at least not if you really mean by train (you do know TGV is just a term for France trains? either way, Prague is very far away by train from Paris) Have you looked at a map of Europe, because if so, there are so many places closer than Prague from Paris to choose from. YOu could go to Switzerland (Lausanne or Geneva, Montreux, around the lake). At least Lake Geneva area has a fairly moderate climate, although I don't know what it would be like in late October, but shouldn't be worse than your other choices in the north.

Christina,
Prague was mentioned, because it \s the only main city I haven't been to in the area, and es I know that it would have to be by plane.
I thought I was pretty good at geography, but Strausburg got me, I must have confused it with Salszburg, Austria.

Bewteen Salsburg and Bruges, what would be the best choice, if we were looking for a smaller town (as in no big city), or at least with a small town feel, and enough to keep busy for 2-3 days. I know that Bruges is like that, but I am not familiar with Salzburg.

I travelled to Brugge from Paris in June. It is a very quaint, small town interlaced with canals that make it quite picturesque. It would be an easy trip by train. I think because of the size of the city, however, that a few days there would be adequate. Perhaps you might travel further to Brussels in the 1-2 weeks you have after Paris.

With respect, you need to look at a map. Strasbourg and Salzburg are 300 miles away from one another.
I'm honestly not sure what one small town is going to keep you occupied for 2-3 days..but for a "short trip" and by rail, Brugge would be better than Salzburg.
Another possibility is to take a TGV into Lausanne, Switzerland, and spend some time along the shores of Lac Leman...plenty THERE to keep you ocupied for several days.
