TFL 11-15 rail card age vs. Nat'l Rail rail card age
TFL's 11-15 Zip card is for students who are 11-15 years of age as of 31 Aug. According to the TFL site, this card also entitles students to travel at the child rate on most National Rail routes.
However, National Rail says it offers the child rate only to students who are under 16.
So what happens if you get an 11-15 Zip card because your child is 15 years old as of 31 Aug, but she turns 16 years old before you travel on National Rail?
We have a couple longish rail trips coming up and there's enough of a difference between the 50% child discount and the 30% Two Together, Family & Friends, etc., discounts, that I'd like to save funds where we can -- but I don't want our tickets to be rejected on our National Rail trips. If they accept the Zip card as proof of age, we'll be OK, but if they request her passport it will show that she turned 16 a couple days earlier.
Thoughts?
Thanks.
