Taxi Rate in Santorini by per person?

Hi

I am arriving to santorini by ferry and am staying at a hotel in fira. there are 3 of us with 3 carry on suitcases. the hotel said they can arrange transportation for 18 euros per person

i have seen from other topics in this forum that taxi range from 12 euros to 15 euros for fira. but is that per passenger? or will it be total cost if i have 3 people?

also, will 3 carry on suitcases and 3 people fit in a taxi cab? and how long will it take to get a taxi if i come by ferry? i assume there are alot of people on ferry and i dont know how many taxis will be available when ferry arrives at 10:30 in the morning.

any info would be appreciated!
thanks

These are the current taxi fares for Santorini per car, NOT per person.

Here's the link of the official website of santorinian taxi drivers, with a full list of charges between main points.

http://santorini-taxi.gr/

Prices are fixes, you only add some extras, as luggage is charged extra etc.
Study the price list.

You cannot bargain with taxi drivers, as they have fixed official rates.
Arriving at the Athinios port, there are no donkeys of course,
donkeys or better mules, are used to tranfer cruise tourists from the port of Fira up to the village of Fira, or from Oia to the port of Ammoudi.

The Hotel hasn't overcharged you, 18 Euro sounds like a reasonable price( the official price is 15 Euro), given the fact that the taxidriver will be waiting for you, and you won't have to search for a taxi...
( not always easy, when a ship arrives, and everyone needs a taxi)

Taxis are big enough to offer space for 3 persons plus 3 suitcases.

The price is of course not per person, but per vehicle !!

The taxi fare is not per person, but per journey. You cannot get a donkey with carry on luggage and in any case the donkeys on Santorini are not well looked after and should not be hired. There have been lots of stories about the way that they are treated.

Use the cable car from the landing stage at the bottom of the cliff up into the town of Fira and catch your cab from there.

Lifeman, wrong info.....
OP will be arriving at the Athinios port... not at the old port of Fira, which is used by cruiseships, and where there are no taxis at all......(only mules, the cable car or 588 steps)

True clausar, got the arrival point wrong. However, the first paragraph is still totally correct.

Thank you all for the great info. Given that hotel charge is 18 euros per person, that will cost 54 euros for the 3 of us. Looks like it is alot cheaper to go with taxi at port. i see that i can make an appointment for 3 to 5 euros. that seems like the best bet so that i dont have to compete with the other passengers getting off the ferry. i guess if you make an appointment, they will have someone standing there with a sign with your name?

thanks again!!

Hotel transportation should be free. I'd take the bus!

he appointment rate is valid only if you arrange for a taxi from your hotel...
Having them picked you up at the port is something else, as they will have to wait for you there prior to your arrival, and i am sure this will increase the rate.
Contact them for a quotation, they should be the cheapest ones for sure.

Chania
Why should hotel transportation be free?
