Taxi on strike in Paris on 26 jan

And the next strike is for the cabs !

Got that mail saying that most of the taxi unions will be 'mobilising' at national level on 26 - the service will be affected (not may). Take precautions.

Transaltoin : SNAFU on 26 !

Cher(e) Client(e),
Bien cordialement

Is this unusual to have a taxi strike? Or does it happen regularly? Once a year? 3 times a year? Every 5 years? How long does a strike typically last?

This has to do with the taxi drivers forcing the state to open the HOV lanes between the airports and Paris. The agreement to begin fixed rate fares to/from the airports is contingent upon the opening of these lanes to taxis/buses.

Anyone traveling to/from the airports on the 26th of this month should consider alternate transportation; i.e. the RER B, one of the Air France buses, or the Roissy/Orlybus.

When considering "alternate" transportation - when we had to get to CDG the day of a taxi strike, there was no ground transportation (Air France coach, Roissybus, shuttle/car services, etc.) because taxis blocked access, along with many major intersections and roundabouts, etc., in Paris. Only option was the RER.
