Taxi/minivan for 8 plus luggage too crowded?

Will 8 people in a minivan plus luggage be too crowded?

The taxi websites I've looked at say they will accommodate 8 people, 8 large luggage, and 8 carry ons per vehicle.

Does anyone have experience with this? Is 8 people plus luggage too crowded? Is it typically 2, 3, 3 seating wise? Would it be better to stick with a group of 6?

Too crowded for what? How long is the trip? If it is a short trip from a gare to an apartment one can bear a bit of crowding. A long journey would be quite another matter, IMO.

If the van taxi doesn't hold you all, the some of you simply get in the next taxi . . .

Too crowded for comfort. The service is a reservation, so we could not simply get in the next taxi.

If the taxi service has a seat belt/seat for each passenger and can hold all the luggage and one is only being transported for a 30 min ride, I would be fine.

We traveled with a paid driver and as a family of 6 and with luggage in Greece from the airport in Athens into the city for what seemed like an hour or more in a sedan. It was fine.

Why not book a shuttle instead (likely cheaper)? What city?
