Taking photos of Stature of David?
Can anyone who has been to Florence this month, May, tell me if photographing David is allowed? I was there May 10 and took lots of pics, now someone told me that it is not allowed and if they saw me they would have stopped me. I did not see any signs and our live guide did not say anything about not taking. Was I wrong or what? I am sure if there were signs I would not have taken any photos. Help me Buck

buck, for goodness sake, stop starting new posts!! Didn't you read my reply to your second post? If you check on your FIRST post there is someone who was there LAST WEEK and said they were enforcing the no photo rule.

My husband and I were in Florence and saw the statue of David in March. There were signs stating that no photographs were allowed, and we watched a few people be reprimanded for trying to take photos, so the answer is nope, no photographs allowed.

I was there in May, and they were enforcing the no photo rule for people with cameras. However, about half a dozen pepole were takintg photos with their cell phone cameras, and either the security staff was not aware of this (no flash) or they weren't enforcing it. I am curious to see how this is handled in the future in other places which have a no photo rule. . .

There was another thread about this subject last summer, I think. Flashes hurt my eyes, so I will be really happy if they enforce the rule (which is not new). BTW, The David has been recently cleaned and restored, but I doubt if postcard sales covered the expense!

How could flash hurt David when he was outside for 400 years and survived that? I still don't know if pics can be taken flash or not, some are ranting and raving but have not really been there to answer the question, more concerned about how I am posting and such trivel as that, now I say again, can pics be taken or not? Just answers this time not unkindly remarks from people who have never been outside their hollow. Buck

" some are ranting and raving but have not really been there to answer the question, "
I answered it in another post but I'll anwer it again. We were there Sunday, May 23, 2004 and there were signs CLEARLY saying NO PHOTOS. A few people got out their cameras and guards were there pretty quickly asking them not to take photos. So, no it is not allowed.
