Taillevent
I'm thinking of a splurge lunch when I go to Paris next month, and was thinking of Taillevent, but have read some things on other sites that indicate things might have changed. Any recent experience from the folks here?
Thanks.
Thanks.

We have been several times for dinner and the reason we continue to return is the whole experience. We think the food is very good - not the most imaginative - but consistently good. More than that tho, the people/staff are so welcoming, gracious and warm. Our last visit was in 2006 and the owner, Jean-Claude Vrinat, passed away in 2008. I've read disappointing reviews about Taillevent, but personally never experienced anything but a great meal in a lovely setting. We will return again this year.

As you probably read, Taillevent lost its third Michelin star in 2007. I wouldn't let that deter me if I were choosing, though the restaurant has no view and looks rather drab from the outside. Last dined there in 2001.
You might also look at La Tour D'Argent (5th on the quai) and Le Grand Verfour (1st-Palais Royal) or Le Pre Catelan (Bois de Boulogne) which have spectacular dining and settings.
Enjoy your visit.
