Switzerland-Germany drop off car rental fee

I will be driving from Zurich to central Germany in June. If the car rental is in Switzerland, will the drop off fee be brutal? Is it even worth considering taking a train to Konstanz or another border town in Germany to rent the car?

It often is very high. Just about everywhere in Europe, cross border drop offs are expensive.

I am not sure what you are looking for. Is it more than just a matter of going to whichever car rental company web site and ask for a quote? Do you need a help in doing this? I just went to the Hertz site, entered ZRH to FRA rental, 6/13-6/20 for a compact and it spit out 379CHF drop off fee, in additional to everything else, in less than a minute.

Rent your car in a German city North of Zurich (Konstanz, Singen, Waldshut, Saeckingen, etc). and you will pay less for drop off in "Central Germany".

I had a look at a couple of car hire websites too, and those that allow cross border hire had what i considered very high fees for doing so, so I agree with neckervd that if you want to do this, get a train to a place just over the German border and hire from there.

In my last experience with German rentals through Autoeurope, there was a drop-off fee of about 30€ or 40€ for a one-way rental; which is much lower than a cross-border drop-off fee.
