Unlike most Fodorites, I honestly don't mind changing hotels every night or two -- especially in a places like Switzerland, where transportation is so easy and luggage storage so convenient. Actually, I prefer relocating to backtracking and I know that for me, I'll save time by moving on for any place more than an hour away (assuming I'm moving forward with each change of hotel). I love seeing places before and after daytrippers and with different lights.

I think you should have a great trip, no matter what you choose, but it really depends on what you want to see and experience.

Have you seen my trip report? It might give you some ideas about the places you're contemplating. My delightful sampling of Switzerland’s gems, with many thanks

Thank you kja! I just printed out your trip report for some good reading at lunch time. We are both in the hospitality business so hotel hopping is kind of a hobby...odd as that may sound. Thank you for your comments and perspective. Hope you have some more great trips palnned.

I found the procession of the cows down from their summer pastures back into the valley a fun day! The animals (cows, goats, etc.) are all decked out in flowers and big cow bells! I think this is the one I visited but you’d need a car I’d guess.

if interested, you can search myswitzerland.com to search for events near where you’ll be.
